I decided to run early because it was absolutely bloody freezing today. It started sprinkling and despite wanting to rush home, I wished today was my long run day. It was really refreshing.

I had a question as I was running though, that I think I'll pose to the one or two people who actually read this blog: Do you carry water with you on your runs? If so, is it every run or just your long ones? How many miles should I run before I take water?

Great job on your running. Keep it up!

I live in the southwest desert, so during most of the year, I almost always have water with me - no matter what distance I'm running. That will change once winter hits and it's not so warm here.

Do you feel thirsty enough during your run that you need water? You might want to try taking some with you on a couple of test runs. That way you'll be able to tell if you need to bring water with you or not, and then depending upon your distance and the weather, you can adjust it accordingly. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I don't carry water as I always run near home and loop back around to get some every 6-7 miles. Only you know when you'll need water though. This is something you'll develop a sense of over time. However, if you wait until you're thirsty. Too late. Already dehydrated.
